Flying mammals and the quest for flight
After coming up with the concept of mixing bats and human flight methods, I started researching into flying mammals, especially bats. I learnt about the wing structure with elasticated skin for better flight and five bones, all radiating from the wrist creating what looked similar to triangular panelling which I liked the idea of. I then started to look into base jumping and the equipment used for it. These were wingsuits and parachutes, normally made out of nylon but historically out of silk which I thought could be a suitable fabric consideration to incorporate some of this theme.
